ComEd participates in the Federal Video Relay Service(VRS). VRS allows customers with hearing and speech impairments to communicate via video conferencing through the Internet, via a web camera or video phone. This secure service uses certified Video Interpreters(VI) to sign conversations, in real time, between the customer and the interpreter. Making a Convenience Payment By Phone

ComEd has partnered with BillMatrix, to bring you the convenience of last minute payment. Pay by credit card, ATM card, debit card, or authorized e-check via phone or online. There is a convenience fee of $2.50 charged by BillMatrix that applies to each transaction.

What you need to know about paying a convenience payment by phone:

  • Your 10-digit ComEd Account number.
  • Payment by e-check requires your 10-digit ComEd Account number, your bank routing and checking account number.
  • Accepted credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.
  • Maximum limits apply to payments made by credit, debit, or ATM card through BillMatrix.
  • Payment amount is also limited by the cardholder's available credit.
  • There is a limitation on the number of credit, debit or ATM card payments that can be made in a one-month period of time.
  • For questions about convenience fees, please call BillMatrix at 1-866-859-3127.

Residential Customers:

  • Call 1-800-588-9477
  • To pay by ATM, debit, or credit card, press 1.
  • To pay by Check, press 2.
  • To verify a payment, press 3.
  • To verify multiple payments, press 4.

Business Customers:

  • For account balance, bill and rate information, or payment options, press 2.

    • To pay by credit card or check by phone, press 1.
    • Request an extension to your due date, press 2.

ComEd reserves the right to verify any payment before restoring service. Service will not be restored until after payment verification is completed, which will take 5 business days for paper and electronic check payments.
